UseTox Scoring Step-by-Step

This section addresses the health impact of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other chemicals in the product that users are exposed to in the building.

Scoring starts with a "base score" reflecting the standards the product meets for VOC content or emissions, often based on certifications the product has achieved. Pharos then deducts points for the most toxic chemical in the listed material content or in additives and possible contaminant chemicals introduced into the product during manufacturing.

Click on individual material contents in the product profile to see the detail on toxic warnings for each material and its possible additives and contaminants.
